U.S. citizens traveling to Iran are fingerprinted upon entry.
U.S. citizens must obtain valid visas from the Iranian Interests Section at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC.
Note: possession of a valid Iranian visa will not guarantee entry into the country. Some U.S. citizen travelers with valid visas have been refused entry at the border without explanation
Checklist of paperwork required for TOURIST Visa:
- Original passport must be valid for at least 6 months - beyond intended stay duration with minimum 2 blank visa pages (note: the amendment pages at the end of the passport - do not count as Visa pages
- One (1) Visa Application duly filled and signed by the applicant.
- One (1) recent photograph
- passport size. (2 x 2 in)
- Photos must be recent, frontal-view, of the same batch, untouched, taken on white background
- showing applicant wearing no glasses of any kind, except for prescription eyewear
- Please write first and last names of applicant in pencil on back of photos
- A copy of the travel itinerary
- Letter of Invitation from the associates in Iran - Stating applicant's name, passport details, purpose & duration of Visit - Visa Authorization / Clearance must be duly approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran and approval sent to the Embassy / Consular section for Visa processing {Kindly contact our office if you need any assistance with issuance of the Visa clearance}
- If you are a U.S legal resident, provide a copy of your Alien Card / or legal resident status in USA
- Additional for non-US citizens: - Copy of original passport - Copy of original or valid alien registration card or valid US resident Visa.
Visa Fees: Subject to change, Please verify the current applicable fees.
Time Taken: 3 - 5 days in Washington DC (per Consular discretion)
NOTE: Having an Israel stamp in your passport may stop the applicant from entering Iran
IMPORTANT
For your travel, please ensure that:

- Proof of sufficient funds required to cover the stay and / or documents for the next / onward destination.
- Important - Must hold return / onward tickets, or else traveler can be denied entry.
